In the very near future I will
be adding a or rather expanding on a section of the site, now entitled
"Ask Milan". A sub-division of this section is called "All about Vintage"
and in it I will attempt to answer, in more detail, all those or most of
those nagging questions about how to buy, care for and incorporate vintage
clothing into your life! One thing I want to point out hear and now is
that when you see "Never Worn" mentioned in a title or description, it
means just that. It means that whatever the age of the piece, it looks
like and most likely ( we're talking 99.9% certainty) it was Never Worn.
This striking Batik ensemble is in Flawless, un-worn condition. There are
no labels what so ever in the piece, the fabric appears to be cotton. The
term Batik refers to the method of dying of the fabric and the actual
process is said to have originated in Indonesia. While I'm not making any
claims that the ensemble actually hails from Indonesia, it does have an
unmistakable "Exotic" look and feel to it. Done in an intricate floral
motif, the dominant colors are blue, brown and orange...the same colors
that are usually used in and as a result found in Batik prints. The colors
are both bold and vibrant and perfectly offset by the slim, very tailored,
structured silhouette. The super skinny long pencil skirt has the most
interesting pleated fishtail feature located at the back of the skirt. It
was extremely hard to capture, but trust me, it's there and it adds to the
beauty of the skirt. The matching blouse is also very slim fitting and
almost appears to be painted on the wearers body, as does the skirt. The
skirt closes at the waist with a side zipper and two hidden hooks. The
blouse closes up the front with hidden snaps. Both pieces are unlined and
look stunning together and when worn independently of one another. The
ensemble will fit a size 2 or slender size 4 best. Evidence of both
machine and hand finished detailing.
