60's Leather & Brass Belt
| This breathtaking
vintage belt was most likely made in Morocco...although this one
bears no stamp or other markings...I have seen similar ones that were in
fact made in the land of Caftans and long flowing peasant dresses. When I
look at this belt, I immediately think of some rich spoiled rotten
aristocrats daughter...sulking on some mountain top...as her billowing
silk robes flutter in the wind...as she poses...sulking shamelessly and
wishing Daddy understood her...and wondering if her friends really like
her for "Her" or just her millions...all I can think of as I watch from a
far enough , yet close enough distance is..." Where the Hell did she get
that BELT? and can I get one !" That's one of the reasons I love Vintage
items as much as I do...because they often carry one off to far away
places and long ago times...as we wistfully wonder...Who wore this and
what stories this piece could tell...if only it could speak ! Back to the
belt...done in a rich buttery brown leather...actually several pieces of
leather fastened together with stunning brass hardware. The piece is in
Excellent condition...the brass having a beautiful aged patina to it...the
construction is quite unique and has an almost Egyptian flavor as well as
the Moroccan fell to it. The back closes with a simple brass hook and the
piece gradually widens towards the middle of the belt. It is not
adjustable at all and is meant to rest on the wearers waist...it will
naturally fall lower or higher depending on your waist measurements. It
measures approximately 35" in diameter and at it's widest point is 2 1/4"
