Without a doubt...this is one of the MOST Enchanting ball gowns I've ever come across. From the minute I laid eyes on it, it became my "Cinderella" gown...because it's pure fairytale magic to behold. Mr. Moore started his own company in 1964 and this magnificent gown was created in 1965 and custom made for one of his upscale clients. He was best know for his dressy day wear and evening wear and would create his signature pieces right on a dress maker form, preferring this method to simply sketching. His simple jersey dresses would start at $500 and the original owner of this dress told me she paid ( her husband actually) several thousands for it. Done in an ivory silk, the fabric is completely puckered with intricate stitching throughout. The fabric is then covered with hundreds of tiny hand sewn rhinestones that literally sparkle like diamonds. Mr. Moore left the NY design scene in the late 70's and went back to Texas and started an antiques business...and his love for vintage and antiques is definitely apparent in this gown...with it's obvious nod to the glamour and elegance of the 1940's. The dress is couture all the way, with it's inner boned bodice. Even the sleeves are slightly boned for superior styling. The bodice is lined in sheer silk organza, the gown is then fully lined in an ivory medium weight silk(?) fabric. His signature label is still present and the gown is in Flawless condition. This gown is weighty and not for the timid or faint of heart...it's an entrance making gown that looks and feels like a million dollars ! Slightly longer in back...providing a modified train-like effect.
