DESCRIPTION:
If you haven't watched "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" with Elizabeth Taylor you might
not be able to appreciate the understated sex appeal of this particular
vintage 1950s piece. A thin layer of LIPSTICK RED
silk chiffon covers an equally thin opaque layer of cool satin fabric ( done
in a matching shade of red ). A long well concealed metal zipper for closure.
Vertical pin tucks and gathers accent the fitted halter style bodice area. The
waist area is further accented with horizontal shirring. As the eye continues
to travel down from the waist it reaches the full swingy skirt that softly
billows out in classic 50s style. Turning our attention to the back of the
dress we can't help but notice the eye-catching ultra thin spaghetti straps
that encircle the neck and extend to just above the waist area. The openness
of the back adds just the right amount of Drama & Flair, don't you agree?
Excellent
condition. I noticed on one tiny pin hole in the outer layer of
silk chiffon and a few faint water marks from recent steaming ( these will
come out with a trip to the dry cleaners ). The original label has been
removed but the quality and attention to detail are unmistakable. Shown on a
size 4 mannequin.
